Sundiver IRC Network Bot Policy
Please read the following Bot Policy carefully as in the past misunderstood or misinterpreted partd lead to improper banning of nicknames as well as bots or users. If you have questions regarding our Bot Policy, please use the #help channel, ask a Sundiver IRC Network staffer or contact us via the contact form.
ContactRegistering and Connecting a Bot
Before you connect a bot on to the Sundiver IRC Network, you must register your bot with us as well as your nickname at the members area and have the bot approved by the Sundiver IRC Network adminis. You will be notified via the members area if your bot is approved or rejected. Any unauthorised bots will be removed from the network without warning.
If any changes to the bot service are made, such as additional channels or functionality, you must notify us via the control forms in the members area. Changes in functionality must be approved by the Sundiver IRC Network admins before they become active.
Bot administration
You can administer your bot, register a new one, delete or generaly edit your settings of your registered bot in the members area. You have to have a registered nickname with us to enter the members area.
MembersThe Sundiver IRC Network admins may at any time request that you discontinue the use of your bot on the Sundiver IRC Network, for any reason at the sole discretion of the Sundiver IRC Network admins. In such a case you will be notified via the registered e-mail address, or via MemoServ.
Please note that you must also keep the bot's nickname registered with Sundiver IRC Network

If you still should have questions or are in doubt if you are allowed to connect your bot to the Sundiver IRC Network, always feel free to ask a staffer or one of the Sundiver IRC Network admins about your doubt or inquiery.
Staffers or admins are generally present in #help or send a memo to one of the admins via MemoServ or use the webform.
Example of allowed bots
- Channel Protection Bots - Bots that monitor the channel for channel rule violations and kick or ban violators.
- Info Bots - Bots that provide information or links when directed by a user or channel operator. They may also provide the weather, definitions of words or acronyms, or perform whois and trace-routes.
- Search Bots - Bots that search the Internet for specified terms.
- Stats Bots - Bots that log the channel and generate statistics based on user activity.
- Seen Bots - Bots that create a database of who has joined the channel and when they last parted.
- A.I. Bots - Bots that are programmed to speak with other users with an Artificial Intelligence.
- Channel Index Bots - Bots used by IRC search engines to catalog channel topics and the numbers of users.
- Game Bots - Bots that perform games such as trivia, scramble, hangman, etc.
Example of disallowed bots
- Spam Bots - Bots created with the sole purpose of joining channels to spam (advertise) something.
- Flood Bots - Bots that attempt to flood users or channels with unwanted information or links.
- Trojan Bots - Bots that attempt to trick users into downloading programs or exploit security vulnerabilities.
- File Servs - Bots that allow others to download and share files, pictures, music, etc.
- Leech Bots - Bots that collect all files offered for download.
- Zombies - Bots that linger in channels or on the network without any discernible purpose.
- Drones - Systems infected with various types of backdoors and Trojans.
- Clone Bots - . Bots placed in channels to inflate the channel's user number or clone a user.
- Any type of script or program that interferes with the proper use of a channel or the network.
- Any bot that kicks and/or bans IRCOps and Admins.
- Log bots - Bots that log channels and/or publish the logs to the internet without specific opt-in requirements.
- Bots that do not have a registered nickname with NickServ.
- Bots that have not the mode +B set by themselves.
